Caring for Betta Splendens
Your show quality betta does not require airstones, filters, or heaters. About 30% of the water should be changed each week with fresh spring water (a water changing cup, which can also be used as a betta carrier, is included in the display). Bettas can go for more than a week without food, though proper care includes daily feeding of no more than what they can eat in five minutes (betta food is included with the display).
Bettas do not tolerate the cold well and the room should be 70 degrees or warmer. If you wish to see your male betta splenden in full presentation, show a mirror to him or place another male betta beside the bowl. We import all our live betta splenden varieties from a single source Thai government inspected breeder certified for responsible breeding practices.
The Anubias plant and driftwood
Besides adding contrasting color and texture to the display, the anubias plant provides balance to the oxygen level within the bowl. Anubias needs low light and is very hardy and will not require any special care. Your fish safe Madagascar driftwood provides cover for the betta to reduce stress and balances the water chemistry.
